Ati Vishist Seva medal for Maj Gen Konsam Himalay Singh

IMPHAL, Jan 30: The President of India has conferred the award of Ati Vishist Seva Medal to Major General Konsam Himalay Singh, YSM, who commanded an Infantry Division in the Line of Control (LOC) in Raiouri and Poonch area recently.

This award has been conferred for his distinguished service during his command of the Division on the LOC in Jamu & Kashmir.

A graduate of Defence Services Staff College Wellington, and National Defence College New Delhi, Major General Konsam Himalay Singh  has held many prestigious appointments in a career spanning over three decades. Among the various key appointments he has held, include Assistant military Secretary and Director Personal Policy in the Army HQ.

He commanded 27 Rajput during the Kargil war for which, he was awarded Yudh Seva Medal (YSM), a decoration awarded for leading successful operations carried out during the Kargil war. He was also the Battalion Commander in the National Defence Academy in Kharakvasla.

He has been awarded COAS commendation card three times and Army Commander`s Commendation card once in addition to the award of YSM.
