Dugged up pit reveals burried body

IMPHAL, January 20: The dead body of a man was found buried after he was allegedly murdered by unidentified person(s) at Pukhao Ahallup Nungsum Chingjin, which is 23 Km away towards the north direction from Lamlai Police Station.

According to the police, yesterday at around 3 pm some villagers of Pukhao Ahallup went to the place to collect firewoods and came across a place with loose soil spreading across around 6 feet in length, on whose top, a one foot long stick was inserted with a foot long stick.

Finding it suspicious, the villagers after returning to their village informed other villagers and decided to check the spot on the following day, police said. Today morning at around 8 am, the villagers went back to the place to clear out their suspicion and after digging the area, found a dead body of a male, police said.

The unidentified person is said to be 5’7” tall and the body was found without any cloths. A white color scarf with skull prints on it and two inner garments were found beside the pit where the body was buried. A heavy stick with some hair stuck was also found a few distance from the pit, police said.

The unidentified person is said to be below 30 years of age and he looks like a non-Manipuri. There were blood stains on his fore head and nose. As his body have not started decomposing, the police suspect that he was buried there 3 or 4 days ago. Police have picked up the body this afternoon and deposited at JNIMS morgue.
