JAC formed over Ukhrul murder

IMPHAL, January 4: Locals of Yairipok Bishnunaha Thoubal district today convened a meeting at the local ground and formed a joint action committee against the brutal killing of Laishram Ibohalbi by suspected bandh supporters  on 29 Decemeber in Ukhrul and submitted a memorandum to the state Chief Minister.

People of the locality and  JAC members today came in a large numbers from Yairipok to Imphal holding a banners and placards intending to reach the CM`s bungalow. But they were diverted to the Hapta Kangjeibung Palace Gate area and stopped from going toward CM`s official bungalow. Later on, some members of the JAC and immediate family members were allowed to submit the memorandum to the state chief minister.

The memorandum has demanded for the culprits of the brutal killing of Laishram Ibohalbi to be booked and punished as per the provision provided by the law of the land, to give an appropriate job to the next of kin and payment of ex-gratia to the family of the victim. The JAC further stated and if the government failed to take up any positive effort towards the points in the memorandum within a two day period, then the JAC along with other civil society groups would launch different types of agitations until their demands are met.

It may be mentioned that the dead body of Laishram Ibohalbi (55) son of (L) Chandrababu of Yairipok Bishnu Naha Mayai Leikai was found buried in a jungle 6 kilometres away from Sangsak police station in Ukhrul district yesterday evening.
