IMPHAL, Jan 30: Martyrs’ Day was celebrated under the aegis of the government of Manipur as part of the nation wide observation to mark the 65th death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Governor Gurbachan Jagat, PHED Minister I Hemochandra, Minister Francis Ngajokpa, Chief secretary DS Poonia, MLA Alexandre, MLA Abonmei Newmai, MLA P Brojen attended the function. Floral tributes were paid to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at GM hall, Imphal. A two-minute silence was observed and sirens were sounded for two minutes as a mark of respect. The teachers and students of Bal Mukunda government music college also presented Ram-Dhun songs on the occasion.
