NE Brothers Condemns Piracy

January 15, 2013: The production company, NE Brothers strongly condemns the wide distribution of pirated DVDs of National Award Winning Manipuri film Phijigee Mani. The company has noticed that some individuals have unlawfully acquired, copied, distributed and sold the film with watermarked logo of NE Brothers.
The company clarifies that it is not behind the wrongful act. The producer of the film, Medha Sharmi (Radha Govind Films) has even confirmed it in a written letter to the company as below :

NE Brothers condemns the sales of pirated DVDs. Individuals committing copyright infringement by copying illegally acquired movies and misusing them, are punishable under the Intellectual Property & Copyright Law. Selling pirated DVDs for their own monetary gain can be held liable. It’s a theft and highly unacceptable. The company stresses that piracy is affecting Manipuri film industry, incurring heavy loss to film producers.

As a first step to counter the menace of piracy, the NE Brothers is planning to come up with a unique idea of making Manipuri original films online. Manipuri film lovers can watch online high quality films at a minimal price.

The NE Brothers asks people to join hands to stop piracy.
