PM`s 15 point prog highlighted

IMPHAL, Jan 30: The Bharat Nirman campaign entered its second day today at the Mini Secretariat hall of Thoubal DC complex. In the morning session of the day, Dr MD Rahejuddin Sheikh Secretary Manipur State Minorities Commission spoke on the Prime Minister’s 15 point programme.

According to a PIB press release, Dr MD Rajejuddin said Prime Minister’s 15 point programme was launched to strengthen unity and integrity of the country. “All that had been envisaged by the programme are fulfilled and India is moving forward. But more need to be done to make India one of the most developed nations in the world. This can be made possible when both rural and urban areas move at the same pace of development,” it quoted.

Further according to the release, he also said that the 15 point programme aims at giving impetus in fulfilling the mission of reaching out to targeted groups with a view to give benefit to them. “Plans and schemes are framed in such a way that it acts as catalysts in producing well groomed up future generation. ICDS is the fall out of such ambitious plan. Under this scheme the child below six years of age are taken care of by giving better and nutritious foods at the anganwadi centres,” it mentioned. 

Saying that the Minority commission was set up to look after minority communities in the country. Minority communities according to him are Muslims, Sikhs, Parsis, Christians, Budhists etc., it was pointed out that in Manipur, Meitei converted Christians and Meitei converted Budhists are also clubbed as minority communities. “But the number of Muslims getting benefit under the various schemes launched by the commission is greater than any other communities,” he said.

Further according to the release, he also said schemes have been framed to provide better education to Muslims and there is also a special scheme to take care of Muslim girls’ education through the  Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV).

There is also a scheme under the 15 point programme to nurture Urdu, which is considered as a dying language. Those who seek to pursue higher education in Urdu are given financial assistance.

He appealed to the Muslim students to apply for scholarships which are available. Scholarship is extended from pre-metric stage till the post graduate stage. But one must have bank account for availing this facility, he added.

Earlier welcoming the gathering, Premlata Loitam MCO PIB Imphal said Bharat Nirman campaign is carried out across the nation to make the general public aware of the flagship programmes launched by the Government of India. Where India stands as of now can be known through this campaign. She appealed to the crowd to interact with the speakers and try to know from them how the benefits extended by the Government can be obtained.
