IMPHAL, January 31: Near to a decade after the 8 year old daughter of Francis Ngajokpa, Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj besides economics and statistics currently, was found killed 8 days after being kidnapped; more gruesome details are emerging regarding the case.
Advocate H Chandrajit Sharma, Counsel for CBI examined the former Director of RIMS Dr L. Fimate, who was serving as Professor and Head of Department Forensic Medicine RIMS in 2003 regarding the murder case.
The recording deposition of Dr L Fimate was examined before the session Judge, Manipur East, M Manojkumar Singh at Cheirap Court Complex on January 28, 2013.
It may be mentioned that the eight-year old daughter of the Minister was kidnapped on November 4, 2003 from Little Flower School gate where she was a student of the third standard.
The highly decomposed body of the student was later recovered in a gunny bag dumped in a pond at Sangaiporou Sathokpam area, about one and half km west of Little Flower High School, allegedly after paying a ransom amount.
A case had then been registered under FIR No 181(11)03 LPL P.S. regarding the incident.
Over time, four persons who are the main accused have been arrested in connection with the case.
The accused are Th Nando from Khangabok; Letkhosai alias James Kuki of Matijang, Churchandpur, N Romen of Basikhong who is on bail and Okram Deben alias Arnold who died in the security ward of Jawahar Lal Nehru Hospital on February 2 of 2010.
According to the charge sheet framed, the accused kidnapped the girl for a ransom of 15 lakhs from the then Minister Francis Ngajokpa.
The ransom was demanded through telephone by using the name of John of Kuki National Front, KNF.
Dr L. Fimate Prosecution witness (PW) no 27 of the case was cross examined before the Session Judge, Manipur East at Cheirap court complex. According to a reliable source, the total number of prosecution witnesses deposing in the case are said to be 74 as of now. According to the recording deposition of Dr. L Fimate, it is mentioned that the on November 12 2003 he conducted post mortem examination on the dead body of the girl which was identified by Sub Inspector Kh Devkumar Singh of Lamphel Police Station.
From the post mortem report, it is learnt that the body bore several marks of bruises on both legs and that sexual assault `cannot be ruled out` as mentioned in the written report of the reply of inquiry of the then DIG Range-1, Police Department Anish Dayal Singh.
It is also mentioned in the report that the marks of internal and external injuries were attained before her last breath.
The next hearing of the case has been fixed on the coming February 18.
The Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI was represented before the session judge, Manipur East by its counsel Advocate H Chandrajit Sharma.
