Wanted in vehicle lifting, involved in accident

IMPHAL, January 16: The driver of a four wheeler, involved in the hitting of three elders at Yairipok Bishnunaha Sipha Leikai yesterday killing one of them and injuring the two others has turned out to be on the wanted list of the Delhi police on three counts of stealing vehicles.

The driver has been identified as Md Juma Khan alias Arman Khan, 23 son of Md Rashid Ali of Yairipok Bishnu Naha Siphai Leikai. The three cases for which the Delhi police has announced him in the wanted list are Case No 314/11 under Section 379 IPC and 215/11 U/S 379 IPC of Delhi Malvia Nagar PS and Case No 152/11 U/S 379/34 IPC of Sorojini Nagar Police Station. Sources informed that  Md Juma Khan had been absconding and hiding whenever the Delhi Police had summoned him.

Md Juma Khan has been remanded to judicial custody by the CJM Thoubal but due to certain inconveniences, he will be transferred to the Jail tomorrow, informed the source.

He will be handed over to the Delhi police later on and a message about his arrest has been dispatch to the Delhi Police, the source added.  It is also found that he is not the owner of the Toyota Dynamic Mark II car which he was driving yesterday. The vehicle was also without a regd no. and according to Md Juma Khan, it belongs to one Md Jiyao Rahman of Lilong. He had exchanged his I-10 car with Md Jiyao, he informed, said the source.

Meanwhile, a mob today set fire his belongings including his cupboards, mattress, bed clothes outside his home this morning around 11am.

The dead body of Laishram Damodar has in the meantime been handed over to family members after post mortem was conducted at the JNIMS mortuary.
