IMPHAL, Feb 22: The flag off of the 1st North East India Top of the World (Mt Everest) Expedition 2012 is scheduled to be held from Kangla Uttra Mamang on February 25, 2013 by the Governor of Manipur Gurbachan Jagat. A statement of the PRO of the expedition said that the expedition is being funded by the North Eastern Council, Government of India through the Planning Department, Governmentt of Manipur and is being implemented by the Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association.
The expedition is being undertaken to create history for the North East India and shall be scripted in history for being the first such expedition comprising exclusively of mountaineers of North east India, the statement added.
