CorCom expels UPPK from membership

IMPHAL, February 1: A press release from the CorCom has said that the umbrella body has expelled UPPK from the membership of the group during a meeting between the CorCom and leaders of UPPK.

The release said that the meeting was held on January 28 and 31, 22013 following which, the resolution of expelling UPPK was taken during the 6th meeting of the CorCom.

It has further elaborated that the step was taken up after UPPK adviser Meisnam Biren alias Chamba of Sagolband Meino Leirak, chairman Bonbihari alias Laangamba of Thangmeiband, External Affairs Secretary Lousangbam Kritibabu Mangang alias Uraaba of Kwakkeithel Moirangpurel Leikai and Assistant Publicity Secretary Laisram Ranjit alias Khuman of Mayang Imphal ran away from CorCom without any explanations.

The statement has further said that another reason is that after the arrest of the UPPK General Secretary Ningthoujam Santi alias Chinglemba Mangang of Waheng Leikai; Finance Secretary Langpoklakpam Inaocha alias Birjit of Kongjeng Leikai and Organization Secretary Konthoujam Homeshwor alias Chingkhie of Konthoujam, there was a disorder and chaos in the outfit which raised questions about the fitness of the outfit to continue as a member of the CorCom.

It also said that above all these, the UPPK had established a relation with “India’s agents” and going against the resolution of the CorCom not to hold talks with India.

It may be mentioned that now after the removal of the UPPK from its membership, the Coordination Committee has six outfits currently- KCP, KYKL, PREPAK, PREPAK (Pro), RPF and UNLF.
