JIRIBAM, February 10: The Manipur Loumi Lup, Jiribam Area Committee organized a reception ceremony of newly elected Upa-Adaksha Imphal East, Zilla Parishad Members and Gram Panchayat Pradhan of the sub-division this morning at 9am at the Dibong Govt Junior High School hall.
The function was attended by Ch Maneshore Singh, BDO,Jiribam; W Khumanjao Singh, president, Manipur Loumi Lup, Jiribam Area Committee as chief guest and president, respectively. Th Ibomcha Singh, Upa-Adaksha Imphal East; Archana Das-Zilla Parishad, Borobekara Circle; Md Haider Ali, Upa Pradhan Sonapur GP; K Indra Kumar Singh, Member, Chingdong Leikai Dibong GP and K (O) Jinibala Devi, Member Dibong G P were present on the dais.
Maneshore expressed the desire to see the newly elected representatives to communicate with the farmers and work for the welfare of the farmers of the sub-division.
He further elaborated on the problems faced by the farmers of the sub-division so that the newly elected representatives could address the problems.
Speaking at the function Ch Biren Singh Gen secy, Manipur Loumi Lup, Jiribam area Committee said that since officers of all other department other than Veterinary and Fishery departments related to the farming in the sub-division are stationed at Imphal, a big communication gap has been created amongst the farmers and the departments.
Most of the departments seem to be altogether non-existent in the sub-division, he complained.
The Manipur Loumi Lup, Jiribam Area Committee has 14 Units and 350 members at present and soon new units will be opened at Barak Circle, he continued.
During the function, the Manipur Loumi Lup, Jiribam Area Committee also submitted a memorandum to Th Ibomcha Singh, Upa Adaksha, Imphal East to set up Lift Irrigation in the sub-division to solve its water problems.
The memorandum also said that irrigation is impossible without water and that the farmers of the sub-division desire to do double cropping in a year-both Rabi and kharif crops.
In his speech, the Upa Adhakshya assured all possible help from his side for the welfare of the farmers of the sub-division. Chief guest Maneshore Singh said he will try his level best for the welfare of the farmers and people of the sub-division
Meanwhile, W Khumanjao Singh, President of Manipur Loumi Lup, Jiribam Area Committee in his presidential speech urged the state authorities to provide the government schemes and other help in time so that the farmers could avail the full benefits of the schemes.
