6 illegal immigrants arrested in Moreh

Manipur,MOREH, Feb 23: A team of Moreh police commandos arrested six alleged illegal immigrants along with forged documents from Moreh bazaar area yesterday.

According to a police source, a team Moreh police assisted by Sub-Inspector B Debson Singh of CDO-Moreh under the supervision of H Balram Singh, MPS, SDPO Moreh and Sub-Inspector Rk Binodjit Singh, OC, CDO Moreh launched a hectic search in the market area on February 22 at about 1:45 pm on receiving reliable information that one Md Baniyanmiya (38) son of (L) Md Amuthoi of Sora Awang Leikai had come to Moreh along with some illegal immigrants/foreigners with forged documents to infiltrate into Myanmar.

During the course of the search operation, eight persons were found walking suspiciously at Moreh ward No. 7 near Mujibur workshop at about 3:05 pm and stopped  for verification, said the source.

On spot verification they identified themselves as Md Ayupkhan (28) son of Md Sultan; Md Ali Khan (26) son of (L) Md Ali Ahamad; Md Firoj alias Joniet (18) son of Md Abulahamad; Jamar Hussain (18) son of (L) Abdulla; Nur Alam (26) son of (L) Md Ayuk; Amanullah Laskar (23) son of (L) Nur Karim Laskar. All the six have said that they are from Bangladesh, the source said.

The other two persons who were guiding the alleged illegal immigrants were identified as Khaiminlen alias Saibullah (23) son of (L) Humen of Moreh ward no 7 and Md Baniyanmiya (38) son of (L) Md Amuthoi of Sora Awang Leikai, said the source.

On further verification, Md Baniyamiya stated that on the instruction of Saibullah of Moreh ward no. 7, he came to Moreh along with the six Bangladeshi illegal immigrants on the promise that he would be rewarded with Rs 2000 for trafficking them. He further stated that the six illegal immigrants were handed over to him by one Hussain of Lilong Bazar in the morning of February 20, the source said.

During body search of the individuals, three Election Identity Cards including two forged ones were recovered from their possession, it added.
