IMPHAL, February 28: The villages covered by the Rural Upliftment Federation (RUF), Somrei has been deprived of various government schemes like PDS, ICDS/Anganwadi, MDM, ASHA, IAY, OAP, MNREGA etc since long. The said villages are under six polling stations namely Somrei, Salam Patong, Phooibi, Heinganglok, Kaihao and Kamu Koireng.
Informing this in a press conference on social security schemes organized by RUF and REACH-M at the former’s Office today, C Anando, president RUF said no one has got BPL or AAY card, K-oil which were distributed two times, rice three times, sugar two times, and old age pension was distributed upto May 2009 only in the area.
When RUF approached the concerned MLAs, they said that the issue should be brought up by the individuals. Due to the fear of consequences, no one has filed an RTI against the concerned authority, he added.
During the conference Ph Angdun, Secretary of Kwarok Maring Village and C Sangdeton of Somrei Village said no ration card has been issued to the villagers and no PDS items distributed to them till date.
Ningkhalen of Solalen Village said the PDS item distribution has been irregular in the village and there are only around 20 anganwadi centers out of 60 villages. When inquired about the midday meal under SSA, the authority replied that the rice has been taken away by underground groups.
No beneficiaries get the facilities under IAY and ASHA schemes, and for MGNREGS no pass book, cheque book and sanction order has been handed over to the villagers. In spite of the guaranteed 100 days of work, only 36 days were granted to the workers during 2012-13. Such is a game of monopoly to depress us, he continued.
The villagers attending the press conference appealed to the concerned authority for better regularization and implementation of the various government schemes immediately, and open a post office/bank in the place convenient for the villagers.
