IMPHAL, March 2: An angry mob completely burnt down a house after a pregnant woman was found dead at her husband’s residence in a suspicious manner today at around 2:30 pm at Khurkhul Makha Leikai Block No 4 in Imphal West district under Sekmai police station.
Police fired several rounds in the air to disperse the mob.
The deceased person has been identified as Ngangbam (O) Lata (18) and her husband has been identified as Ngangbam Premjit, 25, son of Ng Ibobi Singh.
According to information received by IFP, Nagangbam Lata was 5 months pregnant.
Locals of the area accused her husband and mother-in-law of murdering her and lying that she committed suicide by hanging herself and to show their anger completely burnt down the accused`s house.
Even though the fire service arrived on time, they could not save the house as the locals blocked their way.
