Free health check conducted on World Kidney Day

IMPHAL, March 14: Sky Hospital and Research Centre conducted a free health check in connection with the observance of the World Kidney Day with the theme “Stop kidney attack-Kidneys for life: Stop acute kidney injury” at its premises today.

The free health check included diabetes detection, BP check and kidney function test. The observance was graced by M Lakshmikumar, IAS, Managing Director Manipur State Co-operative Bank and Dr L Shyamkishore, Chairman of Sky Hospital as Chief guest and President respectively.

Speaking at the occasion, M Lakshmikumar said that World Kidney Day is a special occasion for all of us and kidney is a vital organ to keep us healthy. “Sky Hospital is doing a valuable service to the society and it has doctors who have had the very big exposure which the society requires.”

Adding that it requires support and encouragement when a doctor who has had large exposure comes forward to serve the society, he said that Healthcare is advanced in the southern part of the country and securing a large place for old aged patients.  Sky Hospital should continue influencing health policy, he added.

During the occasion Dr L Shyamkishore stressed on heart and kidney relation, their damages, treatment and prevention.

“The free treatment is being carried out to detect kidney problems as early as possible. We have been trying to maintain western standards in healthcare by importing equipments from UK. To prevent lifelong dialysis or transplant let us prevent kidney diseases,”  he urged.

LK Saratchandra, Superintendent of Medical, Sky Hospital also spoke on the theme of the observance.
