IMPHAL, March 12: Six boys studying in class VIII and IX aged about 13/14 years who were trying to run away to Dimapur yesterday at about 6 pm were saved by Federation of Regional Indigenous Societies (FREINDS) according to a statement from the group.

In its statement, the six boys from Nambol PS went to a video game parlour near airport as they were late for school. While playing there, they were slapped by a brother of one of the group  for bunking classes and left after telling them to stay there. Fearing to return home thinking that they would be beaten up, the boys decided to run away to Dimapur and subsequently went to North AOC Ticket Counter.

Suspecting their behavior, officials of Nongpok tour and Travels Winger Service North AOC and All Manipur Inter State Bus Association informed FREINDS, and they were handed over to their parents at 9 pm yesterday at the office of FREINDS, it added.

Further FREINDS has notified video game parlours, cinema halls and cyber cafes not to allow students in school uniform to enter their premises.
