Hijacked Tata Ventura found burnt

IMPHAL, March 23: A Tata Ventura which was hijacked by some unidentified armed persons at gun point from Tera Makhong near Karpur Shungba Khul along the Ngarian road at around 8.45 p.m. was burnt totally.

According to a police source, after receiving information about the hijack incident, Thoubal District Police informed not only the police stations in the district but other police stations and made efforts to trace the hijacked vehicles but without any success.

However, acting on an information that a vehicle was being set on fire along the road leading to Pechi Chinglak from Nongpok Sekmai  under Yairipok Police Station in the early morning, a team of police station went to find the burning vehicle to be the hijacked Tata Ventura.

The registration number of the vehicle is MN-01/X-5982 . It reportedly belongs to a person of Bishnupur District, a rifleman of 5th MR who was attached to Police Head Quarter (PHQ), Imphal.

The owner of the vehicle has been identified as Pukhrimayum Jiban (32), son of P. Biramangol Singh of Yairipok Lai Manai. The police source further said that a UG group demanded money from the owner of the vehicle P Jiban over the mobile phone some days back. Yairipok Police station has registered a case regarding the incident.
