Loktak Brigade organize ex `“servicemen rally

IMPHAL, March 10: Security forces of Loktak Brigade of the Red shield division organized an ex- servicemen rally at N Khunou in  Bishenpur district. The rally function was attended by 55 ex- servicemen, 12 widows and 1 Veer Nair from various parts of the district and was organized with an aim to acquaint ex- servicemen with various existing and upcoming policies of the Government of India, Ministry of Defense for the betterment of ex-servicemen and for redressal  of their grievances.

The ex-servicemen rally today was also attended by Brigadier P C Nair, Commandant Loktak Brigade and Colonel Kausik, CO 6/8 Gurkha Riffles. The  Commandant of Loktak Brigade also interacted with the ex- service personnel during the rally and acquainted himself with the problems currently faced by them. 

Speaking at the ex servicemen rally PC Nair  said that apart from making an initiative to resolving pension related problem and resettlement issues, emphasis was also given to other important issues such as medical treatment of ex- servicemen and their dependents under the Ex-servicemen contributory health scheme (ECHS)

Colonel Kak Singh, Officer in charge of ECHS explained to the ex servicemen about the functioning and limitations of the scheme. He also explained on the treatment procedures in vogue in empanelled hospitalsand non empanelled hospitals and for emergency treatment.  He also appealed to all the ex-servicemen personnel who were present at the rally to spread the word to other e- servicemen for enrolling themselves as a member of the ECHS to get its benefit.

He also explained to the ex- service personnel about the documentation for issuing of smart card and financial assistance from the armed force to ex- servicemen and war widows.

A free medical camp was also held wherein the ex- servicemen personal were provided free medical facilities for minor ailments and free medicine were also distributed.
