Missing driver found brutally murdered

IMPHA, March 19: A driver of a Tata Iris who was missing since14 march after he was hired by two persons to take a sick person to the hospital was found dead today at around 1.15 pm from a fish farm located at Komlakhong Konuma Makha Leikai under Mayang Imphal police station in Imphal West. The body was picked up by the police and kept in the morgue at the Jawaharlal Nehru institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) for the post mortem today even as angry locals of the Sekmajing Konuma area dismantled  and put on fire, the house of Md Rajauddin the alleged prime suspect in the murder of the driver.

The driver is identified as Thokchom Kiran (29), son of Irabot of Koirou Mamang Leikai Thongju Part 2.

The local MLAs of both Thongju and Keirao Kendra visited  the JNIMS morgue and met with the JAC members formed regarding the case of Th Kiran.

Speaking to the media,  MLA of Keirou Kendra Thamarjit said that the two alleged accused Md Salim of Kiyamgei Muslim Awang leikai who is also a rifleman in the 7 MR and  Md Sabbir who is a fellow driver of victim Kiran had called out the victim on the night of 14 March at around 6.30 to take a sick person from Singjamei Naorem Leikai to JNIMS. He further informed that the accused was in the custody of the Irilbung police after a complaint file by the family members of  Kiran  15 March.  

He further said that even though the two alleged accused are from his constituency, he will not try to save anyone  involve in the heinous crime and also pressured the state police to find out and arrest others who might be involved in committing the crime.

MLA Bisorjit of Thonju Kendra added further that he had received some reliable information that all those who are involve in the crime also had links with drug trafficking in the state and the victim  might have been hired to carry drugs in his vehicles. He opined that when the deceased Kiran  came to know about the truth, he might have been killed by them.

He also said that he will not remain silent in this matter and pressured the state government to bring out all involved in the crime.

Both the MLAs also appealed the people of the state not to create any unwanted and untoward problem in the state which can bring public unrest in the state.

It may be mentioned that Th Kiran who is a Tata Aris driver called out by the two alleged accused on the night of 14 March at around 6.30 to take a sick person to the JNIMS hospital. The next day, the two came along with the Tata Aris and informed that Kiran was missing when asked by the locals, they had revealed that on 14, they along with Kiran went to the house of the prime suspect  Md Rajauddin at Sekmaijing Komlakhong to demand the money which Rajauddin had borrowed from Sabbir. Rajauddin had told Kiran`s family that after having dinner at his residence, Kiram went missing. Sabbir and Rajauddin were picked up after  Kiran`s family lodged a complaint to the Singjamei police station.

According to the police, the body of Th Kiran was found some 150 meters away from the residence of the prime accused Md Rajauddin in a fish farm. The Irilbung police have taken up a case regarding the murder of Th Kiran.

On the other hand, the JAC formed against the missing  case of Th Kiran along with  locals  of the area blocked the National Highway number 2  on the Imphal-Moreh stretching from Naorem Leikai to Canchipur road after the news of the dead body being found affecting on normal traffic. The locals came out on the street protesting against the inhuman killing of Th Kiran and demanded to arrest the prime accused in the inhuman killing and others involved in the killing of Th Kiran.
