KOHIMA, Nagaland, Mar 10 (NEPS): State’s new Home Minister G Kaito Aye said he would explore all the possible means that the Naga people come together so as to find logical solution to the longstanding Naga political problem.

Talking to NEPS here Sunday after taking over the key Home Ministership on March 5, the senior Minister said the political negotiations between the Government of India and the Naga underground people had already reached a very decisive phase. “My priority is to see that an atmosphere conducive for the peace process is created, so that the process continues without being disturbed,” he asserted appealing to all sections of the people to extend their sincere cooperation towards this.

Agreeing that crimes were still taking place in Dimapur, Kaito said except this place (Dimapur), there had been relative peace in the State. He, however, explained that things were more complicated in Dimapur areas as most of the crimes were committed by outsiders and also by various militants groups from outside the State. They had been carrying out all sort of unwanted activities like kidnappings for ransom, rape, extortions, etc. and such actions had been more compounded when the Naga underground people were already engaged in political negotiations with the Government of India.
Kaito made an appeal to all the militant people coming from outside the State to vacate the State particularly the Dimapur areas for the larger interest of the Naga people in particular and the people in the region in general. “In this manner, I hope the peace process that has been going on over a decade does not falter,” the Home Minister said.

Appreciating the State police for maintaining excellent law and order in the State, the Home Minister said he would be calling a meeting for the State police from Commandant and above soon to review the overall situation in the State.
