Saikul MLA continues inspection tour

SAIKUL, March 9: Yamthong Haokip, MLA of Saikul assembly constituency today inspected the site where a new bridge will be constructed over an adjoining area between Ihang River and Iril River in Saikul constituency under Sadar Hills in Senapati district, Manipur. Yamthong Haokip also inspected the under construction of Saikul Bazar Community Hall which is said to be constructed by the MLA from his own pocket.

Yamthong Haokip said the bridge will be named “Ihang Karong Bridge” and the construction work of the bridge will start from November this year under PMGSY.

He said the planned bridge will be of 50 metre long and 20 metre wide and added that it will connect Karong, Ukhrul and Saikul constituencies.

The MLA also visited a Primary School at Leplen village in the constituency. The school was found in poor condition with hollow walls at all sides.

He assured that a new building of the bamboo wall school will be constructed under his initiative.

The school was upgraded to a Primary School under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan mission on September 27, 2011, said Paolen Haokip, Chief, Leplen village.

Yamthong further inspected other development projects which are now under construction– a playground and a water reservoir at Leplen and another Community Hall at Saikul bazaar.
