Seven statues of Maichous to be carved

IMPHAL, March 3: According to two important puyas namely Leimarol Sekning and Pakhangba Yangbi, seven Maichous were selected for carving of their statues today. The Meichorol Inat Kanba apunba Lup (MIKAL), in association with Uttra Sanglen and  Sana Konung organised its second panel discussion  on the carving of the statues of Maichous today at around 1 p.m. at Uttra sanglen, Sana Konung, Palace compound with Sairem Nilbir, Maichou Wangkhemcha, President, MIKAL, Khumancha Poreinganab as Presidium members.

The panelists included  Sairem Nilbir, Naoroibam Indramani, Sagolsem Rajmohon Meitei, Maisnam apabi, angom Ibochou Meitei.They expressed their opinions based on the puyas and agreed unanimously to carve the statues of Maichous.

The selected seven Maichous whose statues are set to be carved are Lourembam Khongnangthaba at Kangla, Ganak Thengra at Ganak Thengra, Ganak Hiden, Langol Lukhoi at Langol Hill, Moirang Lalhaba at Heibok Hill, Samurou Chingong at Hiyangthang Ereima, Nambol Thonba Himaiba at nambol and Wangoo Baji at Wangoo.    

The meeting today also unanimously resolved to start carving the statues of the remaining Maichous from the next year onwards and a committee for carving the statues was also constituted.

MIKAL has also appealed to the general public to extend help and participate in the carving of the statues.
