Asthi of N Satyabhama held today with mass procession

IMPHAL, April 17: The `Asthi` ritual of N Satyabhama was held today with a mass procession from her residence till the spot where her dead body was earlier found and back to her locality. The procession was organized by the Joint action committee formed against the brutal killing of N Saatyabhama and was participated by various civil society members and locals.

A large number of people took part in the procession from Kakwa Laishram Leikai Selungbam Leirak near Bo Lampak till Bashikhong Wangkhei Lowmanbi Loukhol and back to Kakwa.

It may be mentioned that N Satyabhama alias Penao (31), daughter of N Tomba was a junior research fellow of a BDT project at the Department of Pathology at Regional institute of medical science and was cremated after 9 days of her partly decomposed body being found at the Bashikhong area.

The JAC formed in the Satyabhama case had launched an indefinite state bandh from 4 April demanding the arrest and giving befitting punishment to the person(s) involve in the heinous crime. On April 9, the JAC members along with angry locals of the Kakwa area had gone on to dismantle the houses of the three accused in case.

Satyabhama`s dead body was claimed by the JAC and family on the evening of 12 March and cremated therafter.
