Dy CM appeals for restraint, says chargesheet will be filed in Satyabhama case

IMPHAL, April 9: The disheartening incident of murder of Ningombam Satyabhama has been condemned by all. The government also took the matter seriously and condemned it, and had announced to arrest and punish the culprits. Accordingly, three accused were arrested today namely Toijam Thesis @ James Bond @ Boy of Thambalkhong Sabal Leikai, Thoudam Jibon Singh of Irilbung and Ksh Biju @ Holendra of Irilbung Bazar.

Following the announcement of three arrests related to the murder of  Ningombam Satyabhama, the Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur said the breakthrough was a result of the hard work of both the police and the Government. The Dy CM who is also the Home Minister was speaking to the media at his the Manipur Congress Bhavan.

“The police officers have put in sincere work and I believe that they will perform their duty well to prevent such crimes in future,” he said while adding that he believed that the Department will take up some exemplary work to show that crimes are prohibited and will not be tolerated.

He maintained that a chargesheet will be filed and a case taken up  and said that the quantum of punishment for the accused will have be decided by the court. As the present case is monitored by special dedicated team headed by Additional SP the chargesheet will be filed sooner, Gaikhangam continued.

The people and CSOs are appealed to  prevent crime against women which is a crime against the state, society and God. Parents are also urged to imbibe positive thinking and discipline to their children, he went on to say.

Appealing to call off bandh and blockade, and refrain from destroying the houses of the accused(s), Gaikhangam cautioned for the law to be allowed to take its own course.

The Home Minister also informed the media that the DNA test of the samples sent to Kolkata with regard to the case of Keisham Premila from Wabgai was was still pending as the body was badly charred. Her body had been  with a severed head was found at Kakching Mahadev Hill last year in April.

The Home Minister also reiterated that the police accords similar importance to insurgency and civil crimes and added that a women force will be deployed as soon as they complete their training.
