Full security rehearsal ahead of Presidential visit

IMPHAL, April 13: In preparation for the April 15 visit of the President, Pranab Mukherjee to the state, a full security rehearsal was conducted from the Imphal Tulihal Airport to the Adimjati Siksha Ashram today.

A reliable source informed that five zones and six sectors have been categorized for security arrangement for the Presidential visit and security posts will be taken by 10am of April 15 at 147 different security posts for the visit.

IGP (LO-I) Kailun has been made the Secretary arrangement while the overall security in charge for the visit has been handed to DIG (R-I) Clay Khongsai, informed the source.

A combined team of the NSG and the SPG under the Ministry of Home Affairs consisting of 33 personnel has arrived today in the state as part of the security arangment for the high profile visit, the source informed.

It is also learnt that the President will be arriving at the state capital on a BB Helicopter of the Indian Air Force at 4:30pm from New Delhi on April 15. He will leave for Gangtok the next day on April 16 at 10am, the source said.

After his arrival at the Imphal airport, the President will directly move to the Adimjati Siksha Ashram for the inauguration of the Amity Hall constructed under the MPLADS of Rajya Sabha MP Rishang Keishing and for the Diamond Jubilee celebration of the Adimjati Siksha Ashram, informed the source.

The President will also lay the foundation stone for the construction of a Tribal Boys’ Hostel and Tribal Working Women’s Hostel in the presence of the state Governor Gurbachan Jagat, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, Dy CM Gaikhangam and MP Rishang Keishing. After the function at the ashram, the President will halt for the night at the Raj Bhawan.
