Oil tankers arrive

IMPHAL, Apr 30:  43 oil laden trucks arrived in the State today carrying essential petrol and diesel from Khatkhati and Tinsukhia amidst the blockade imposed along both highways.

The trucks were given heavy security cover in view of the indefinite blockade imposition by Zeliangrong organizations demanding the release of Alice Kamei, who is in the custody of the PLA at present. The tankers after reaching Khuman Lampak arrived at the Indian Oil Depot at Chingmeirong this afternoon. They were sent to Churachandpur,Bishnupur, Imphal East and Imphal West for further distribution. However, many service stations failed to open in Imphal area apart from M/s Kusum oil pump  at Nongmeibung. Many voiced angst on account of the long queues for availing petrol and questioned why the other pumps are not giving service despite ample fuel stock. The situation still remains a status quo and is yet to be addressed by the concerned authorities.
