SSA community awareness camp

IMPHAL, April 06: The Government of Manipur, Office of the Zonal Education Officer/DPO (Sharva Shiksa Abhiyan) Imphal West is organizing a community awareness camp for community participation in the school activities from April 6 to 8, 2013 at Phayeng Kangjeibung Primary School, Imphal West.

The said camp will be attended by Headmasters/Chairpersons of all government and aided schools within Phayeng circle of 16-Sekmai A/C, all School Management Committee members and guardians, intellectuals, leaders of clubs and Meira pabis.

The inaugural function of the camp was presided over by Chanambam Bijenti Devi, Adhakshya Imphal West; and graced by K Radhakumar Singh, IAS, Deputy Commissioner/Chairman District Board of Education, Imphal West; Ng Bhogendro Meitei, MCS, Additional State Project Director (SSA/SMA), Manipur; and W Praveen Singh, AI of Schools as chief guest, guest of honour and camp director respectively.

During the occasion K Radhakumar emphasized about the role of SSA and community in shaping the career of the students. A child has to start schooling from the age of 5 years and the parents should not delay their wards in admitting them to school.

A child stays for 6 hours a day at school which is called their second home and the teachers have to play an important role to educate the child in the best possible way, he added.

Giving the presidential address, Ch Bijenti spoke on the topic “role of community in education development”. In this computer age, community and women have to play their role to make the children study under SSA, she affirmed. h

We should make the children study under government schemes with the feeling of oneness. Students, teachers and guardians are urged to tie up so that better students can be produced from government schools, she continued.

Interacting with reporters at the sideline of the function Gopimohon Maibam, Zonal Education Officer/DPO (SSA) Imphal West District said we have to move towards making the children study as with the advent of Right to Education (RTE) it is punishable if a child is deprived from studying.

Participation of the parents is also required for making the children study. It is required to organize group discussions and make the parents aware of their roles. The teachers are also required to possess the spirit of sacrifice, he added.
