IMPHAL, May 26: One person abducted by unknown persons was released after being beaten up and then reportedly served a monetary demand of rupees 5 lakhs.
According to a source, Nongthoubam Jila (50), son of late Manao of Haraorou Mamang Leikai of Kundrakpam was abducted by three/four unidentified persons who were armed yesterday from near Keishampat junction at around 9.30 pm. He was reportedly blindfolded and then given a electric shock before being beaten up. Later, he was released after being asked to hand over rupees 5 lakhs before 4 pm tommorow.
