AMACSU observes 14th Foundation Day celebration

IMPHAL, May 26: The All Manipur Arts and Culture Students’ Union (AMACSU) observed its 14th foundation day and Khudolpot Tamba at the Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy today.

During the “Khudolpot Tamba” session of the day, AMACSU presented gifts to the 28 teachers of arts and culture.

Delivering the key-note address, Shyam Kumar Sharma, general secretary of AMACSU said the main aim and objective of AMACSU is to empower arts and culture in the state.

He further said in this era, arts and culture has been neglected resulting in decadence of the culture and art forms of the society.

AMACSU was established on May 6, 1999 and since that day, the union has put in efforts to introduce the youths of the state to the famous arts and culture of the land as a means to promote the indigenous arts and culture, he said.

AMACSU also provides platform to all talented people to showcase their talents, he continued. 

Manipur is a mosaic of ancient traditions and rich cultural patterns, he said and added that the state as such is represented through arts and culture.

Among the recipients of “Khudolpot” Pungyaiba instructor (oja), E Yaima Singh praised AMACSU for organising such function and honouring the teachers of arts and culture.

He acknowledged the activities of AMACSU and its attempt to preserve and nurture the works of erudite teacher in the field of arts and culture.

Speaking at the function as chief guest, Dr K Sobita Devi, Director, Arts and Culture said that the identity of a society is represented by culture and it is important to preserve it for the future generation.

She further appealed the members of AMACSU to help in submitting the profile of teachers to the government department to avail the benefits under the Guru Siksha Parampara scheme. 

She elaborated that by preserving arts and culture, the future generation can easily pursue the practices of the past generation.

Delivering the presidential speech, A Modhusudon Singh, president-in-charge, AMACSU said the

colourful kaleidoscope of Manipur society and culture has been a topic that has aroused the inquisitiveness in the minds of scholars and researchers all across the world.

The people of Manipur have projected their arts and culture in various dances and music forms, he said.

Citing that one can see several scripts which are produced for the entertainment of the people jeering the land’s arts and culture, he appealed to the people concern not to make such gestures and to the union to check such incidents.
