Bakery workers injured in grenade blast

IMPHAL, May 3: Unidentified person reportedly lobbed a hand grenade at a bakery located at Chingmeirong Awang Leikai under Lamphel police station under Imphal West district today at around 7.10 pm leaving five non local workers of the bakery injured by splinters. All the injured were rushed to the nearby Raj Polyclinic hospital for treatment.  A team of Lamphel police station lead by Ingocha, officer In charge Lamphel Police rushed to the spot where the blast occurred to take stock of the situation.  

The blast at S.T Mixer Bakery shop located at a rented shop of Kh Inaocha (56), son of Late Ibopishak of Chingmeirong Mamang Awang Leikai. The proprietor of the bakery is identified as Uttam Kumar Bhumik (35), son of Suresh of Jakhalabanda Nagaon district in Assam. All the five bakery workers who were injured in the blast are also from Jakhalabanda Nagaon District, Assam. They are identified as Shiva Bhumik (16), son of  Ramdas ; Shumeshore (16), son of Dibiyatlohar; and Mydiew with all the three receiving minor injuries. Shital Bhumik (30), son of  Rakhal sustained injuries on his right eyes  while Chitaranjan Bhumik, son of Suchambam got injured on his head. The two have been referred to Shija Hospital.

Meanwhile, Lamphel police have taken up a case regarding the incident.
