IMPHAL, May 17: The Cultural Forum, Manipur has observed it 55th birth anniversary and felicitated its life members and national awardees and fellows at the Lamyanba Shanglen at Palace Compound today.
During the occasion, a short story book titled “Ngamkheigi wangmada” by Budhichandra Heisnamba was released. Nongthombam Mangi Devi and Dr Chongtham Jamini Devi who are both life members of the Cultural Forum were felicitated.
Elangbam Sonamani Singh, winner of Sahitya Academy Translation Prize; Aribam Shyam Sharma, National Film Award winner; Dr Jodhachandra Sanasam, Sahitya Academi Award winner; and Ratan Thiyam, Sangeet Natak Academy Fellow were felicitated with shawl and citation at the occasion.
Speaking at the observance, T Mangibabu Singh, MLA Thanga AC stressed that Manipuri literature should be nurtured by everyone. Works of eminent writers of the state need to be translated, he added.
