ICM observes silver jubilee

IMPHAL, May 11: The Institute of Cooperative Management, Imphal observed its silver jubilee at its Lampelpat complex today.

The function was attended by state Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro as chief guest, Minister Cooperation and Social Welfare AK Mirabai as President and Woks and Transport Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar, Manipur University Vice Chancellor Prof H Nandakumar Sarma and Commissioner, Cooperation, K Moses Chalai as guests of honour.

Minister Okendro in his speech said the ICM has a vast role in the state and at present it is conducting 1589 training programmes. The state education Minister said the ICM conducted training programmes aim at making the beneficiaries and self-sustainable and help them in earning their livelihood after the completion of their trainings.

AK Mirabai in her address said, that it wouldn’t be wrong to say that the trainings conducted by the ICM is for the welfare of the future generation.

Addressing the function, Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar said there are more than 100 Self Help Group in his constituency, Mayang Imphal, and ICM had been conducting several awareness programmes in the constituency and helping in empowering the women of the constituency.

ICM Chairman Dr L Tompishak Singh in his welcome address said ICM has been providing hope, courage of inspiration to the poor.

He said during the 25 years journey of the ICM since its inception, it has managed to provide training to about 25000 beneficiaries.

He continued that the state government has been helping and encouraging the ICM in every aspect of its existence.

Elaborating further he said, the ICM conducts several skill development programmes.

Meanwhile, Education Minister Okendro unveiled the foundation monolith of a staff quarter and further unveiled a newly renovated girl’s hostel.
