May Day observed at Jiribam

JIRIBAM, May 23: As part of the observance of May Day (International labourers  day) for one month , May Day was observed under the aegis of All Manipur Manpower Upliftment Centre (AMMUC) in coordination with Jiribam United Clubs’Association (AJUCA) at the Jiribam Town Hall .

Farmers and labourers and representatives of NGOs, Meira Paibis and various clubs participated in the function. Speaking on the occasion, various persons said that since Manipuris were choosy about jobs, non- Manipuris did the jobs in their place, adding that the state of Manipur has become a state of people who are not willing to work but want easy money.

Speaking at the function as the president, H. Meghachandra Singh, President of the Youth Foundation for fitness and sevices Manipur (YOFFS) said that a handful of people who indulged in easy money might be happy but the majority of Manipuris suffered and added that one should not be choosey about jobs so as to be free from hardships and they should not feel ashamed of working patiently in their own state.

He further said that we should not get non-Manipuris wrong when they worked in Manipur while pointing out that while We were living  a Babu`s life, non-locals worked.

Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, S. Bimalchandra Singh, Convenor of All Manipur Uplifment Centre elaborated on why AMMUC was observing the International Labourers Day.
