Resolving misunderstandings will preserve integrity: CM

IMPHAL, May 13: If people can resolve the misunderstandings between them, then unity and integrity can be preserved and protected. It is indeed the need of the hour to discuss in a friendly way to settle problems in a pragmatic way.

This was said by Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh while delivering the keynote address of a seminar on ‘Changing contours of Manipur and way ahead’ conducted by Red Shield Division at its auditorium at Leimakhong today.

Our economic condition and income have improved, and challenges are decreasing. Therefore, more focus will be given to Look East Policy to bring development in the sphere of tourism and sports. The government’s main focus is to improve infrastructure, with inclusive growth and sustainable development in both hill and valley, he added.

The role of army, paramilitary and state force is important in tackling militancy and restoring peace and development simultaneously. The initiatives taken up by army will be helpful to bring mutual respect, progress in the state. If there is any issue we can fight democratically and peacefully, the CM continued.

The said seminar was attended by Gaikhangam , President MPCC and Deputy CM, Minister of Home, Tribal affairs and Hills, Horticulture and Science; Y Joykumar, DGP Manipur;  Lawmkunga, Additional Chief Secretary; Ministers and MLA from various constituencies of Manipur, and prominent personalities from the fields of education, administration and leaders of various socio political and youth organizations.

The one-day event was held in two separate- sessions. In the morning session Chief Justice (Retd) WA Shishak was the Chairperson while Prof N Mohendro Singh, Director College Development Council, Manipur chaired the second session. Academics and officials presented papers during the seminar today.
