School for Khongjom parva mooted

    IMPHAL, May 8: Renowned Khongjom parva singers of the state today called upon the state Government to establish a separate school for the dying art form of Khongjom parva recital and attract the youngsters to take up the dying art form and save it from a state of oblivion.

    Khongjom Parva is an oral rendition and recital based on tales and anecdotes of the 1891 Khongjom War.

    The renowned Khongjom parva singers of the state including Ebeni, Soibam Thoiba, Khuman Sundari were attending a press conference at the office of the Ethno-Heritage Council announcing the 11th Foundation Day of the HERICOUN observation at Hotel Imphal.

    Speaking at the press conference, Ebeni said the Khongjom Parva recital is on the wane and there is an immediate need for the people and the Government to work for its revival.
