Sky Hospitals organizes free health camp

    IMPHAL, May 17: A mega free health camp was organized by Sky Hospital and Research Centre at its branch at Porompat near JNIMS gate from 9 am to 4 pm today on the occasion of World Hypertension Day . A total of 215 patients were given treatment  and medicines given free of cost.

    In an interaction with Dr L Shyamkishore, Chairman Sky Hospital and Research Centre, he said world hypertension day is observed all over the globe on May 17. He pointed out that the theme this year is “Healthy heart with healthy blood pressure” and stated  that the day is being observed emphasizing that 20% of the world adult population has high BP and half of the patients do not have symptoms. “Hypertension is a silent killer and can cause heart attack, stroke, kidney disease etc. So prevention is better than cure,” he added.

    25% of the people who have high BP can stop taking BP medication if they change their lifestyle. After doing healthy eating, regular exercise,decreasing the salt intake and alcohol consumption. BP medication can be stopped. One has to control it by doing regular check-ups, Dr Shyamkishore continued.

    He also said the free health camp in connection with world hypertension day was being observed by the Hospital for the second time today.
