Kabo Leikai JAC to knock Supreme Court`s door

IMPHAL, June 7: A press release from JAC against the forced eviction of Kabo Leikai said that in an emergency meeting of the JAC executives held at Dewlahland on the June 7, it was resolved to file a case against the state government of Manipur for contempt of Court`s order to the Supreme Court at Delhi.

It continued that the State govt official in the person of – the Commissioner/Secretary (Revenue ), Govt of Manipur, the Deputy Commissioner/Collector, land Acquisition, Imphal East, Manipur have been asked to withdraw/recall back the police personnel deputed within the area, recall back all prohibitory orders, and the govt agencies (Chief Engineer, IFCD) was also served a Notice(court order) to discontinue any kinds of works that may effect the topography of the land in question, yet they have turned a deaf ear to the court orders.

It further said that the eviction of Kabo leikai has displaced many families, and the academic atmosphere of more than 100 students whose quarterly exams were approaching were severely affected and the health of many senior citizens too are deteriorating while some of the victims who cannot afford to stay in a rented house still continue to stay amidst the debris of their destroyed houses, facing immense hardships during both rainy and sunny days.
