KANGPOKPI, June 29: In yet another liqour drive, Kangpokpi Police today seized 368 DIC liqour from separate incidents today.
A team of Kangpokpi Police lead by Insp L Vaiphei, OC of Kpi PS frisked vehicles passing NH-2 this morning at Koubru Laikha. While frisking one Maruti 800 bearing Regd.No.MN05-A/4183 they came across DIC liqour inside the vehicle and seized the same along with the owner namely Naorem Shanti Devi (45), wife of (L) N Lukhoi of Awang Sekmai, according to police source.
The source further added that Naorem Shanti Devi has been apprehended with 250 litres of DIC liqour at around 5:45am.
In another incident at Keithelmanbi at around 6:30 am, the same police personnel seized another 118 litres of DIC liqour from a Imphal to Mao passenger bound bus bearing Regd.No. MN01/1167 from the possession of one Ngambam Premlata Devi, (38), wife of Amarjit Singh of Awang Sekmai.
Police source further said that in all, 286 litres of DIC liqour were seized this morning and later destroyed in the presence of the concerned owners and the general public.
Interestingly, in another incident Kanggui Women Welfare Organization seized another 100 litres of DIC liqour at IT Road Kangpokpi this morning at around 7:40am from the possession of one Tombi and Chaobi from Awang Sekmai and later destroyed the same in the presence of the owners and the local media persons at their office.
