Road mishap claims one

    KANGPOKPI, June19: In yet another road mishap along NH-2, one pillion rider of a motor bike died at the spot while his companion was left seriously injured when an empty tanker and the  bike collided at Kanglatongbi this evening at around 6:30 pm.

    The ill-fated empty tanker bearing Regd.No. AS01-DC/5476 and the Pulsar bike were heading towards Kangpokpi side from Imphal when they met with the accident.

    The dead pillion rider has been identified as  a police personnel of the Senapati police, namely Thongkhohao Doungel (25), son of (L) Onjang Doungel of Mongpijang Sadar Hills situated near Sapormeina while the injured person is said to one Thangkholen Kom (26), son of Mangjangul Kom of Chingphei village situated below Motbung village,according to police source while adding that the dead body of the pillion rider has been taken to RIMS Morgue for postmortem even as the injured person has been admitted at JN.Hospital, Porompat Imphal for medical treatment.

    Though the identity of the absconding tanker driver has not been established until filing of this report, a case has been registered at Sekmai Police station and the vehicle seized and kept in the custody of Sekmai Police.
