IMPHAL, June 21: Locals of Pishum Ningom Leikai and Laitonjam (N) Waikhom (O) Sanahanbi has today called a press conference alleging that Sanahanbi’s sister Thakhilcham (o) Rajpati daughter of Bheigo has been inhumanly tortured by her husband Lala Sharma and his parents.
The press conference was called at the Manipur Press Club today.
Addressing media persons, she said the torture by the husband led to her sister being hospitalized at the JNIMS on June 18, 2013.
She continued that Rajpati had on several counts returned to her parental home owing to the inhuman torture by her husband and further alleged that she was treated by her husband’s family as an animal and was kept separately in a room under lock.
She lamented that her sister has problems of fits whenever she is tensed or sad but with medication she has been getting better, however this doesn’t mean that she is mentally challenged as her husband and his family had made her out to be.
