CCpur police firing victim sucumbs

LAMKA, July 6: After battling for a week in the ICU, the person, who was injured in Manipur Police Commando firing on June 30, 2013 between 11 to 12 pm to control a mob thronging the CCpur Police station in the follow up of the arrest of the four IRB personnel involved in the Khuga Dam MMS case, has succumbed at the Shija Hospital Imphal, today.  

The death body of (L) Lunminsiam Guite, 20 son of Lunkhopau Guite reached Lamka around 3:00 pm accompanied by family and leaders of several organizations.

Leaders of Young Paite Association, CDSU, ZSF, and SSPP had called a meeting in this regards holding up the funeral program for some time, however after receiving assurance from the DC that the govt will provide ex-gratia to the decease and others who were injured in the commando firing, the death body was buried in the evening around 5:30pm.

The DC had assured the compensation within 15 days, and further urged the people of Churachandpur to shun violence.

The DC also promised that “stick action” will be taken up against the responsible person and added that all the findings of the investigation, in this case will be updated to the leader of YPA, ZSF, CDSU.

The DC however didn’t disclosed the ex-gratia amount.

Lunminsiam Guite, 20 of Zenhang Lamka died around 2:30am this early morning night at Shija hospital where he was referred to by the doctor in CCpur.

He is survived by his wife Nengneihlhing who is said to be pregnant.
