JIRIBAM, August 17: Civil society organizations of Kalinagar, Jiribam has this late evening formed a mob in front of the Irabot Statue at Jiribam demanding proper investigation in the death of a 25 year old woman who was allegedly found hanging inside her room by her father in law.
The mob has demanded that the dead body should not be handed over to the family members until it is properly investigated.
Ashangbam (o) Sardanandini Devi wife of A Tiken Singh was found hanging inside her room by her father in law Ashangbam Gourakishore Singh this early morning.
Her father in law informed the police at Champanagar about 4 kms south of the Jiribam Police station following which, police arrived at the spot and collected the dead body and later sent it to the Silchar Medical College, Gungoor for post mortem.
Meanwhile, family members of the deceased have alleged foul play and said that Sardanandini Devi was not treated well in her husband’s family. The deceased’s mother further alleged that Sardanandini had eloped with Tiken and after marriage, Tiken had barred her from talking with her parents on the phone and used to frequently beat her up.
