12 cadres of different outfits in home coming ceremony

IMPHAL, September 4: Twelve cadres of six different UG groups operating in the state have laid down their arms at a ‘home coming ceremony’ held this evening here at the Chief Minister`s Bungalow.   

Out of the 12 cadres, six are PREPAK (Pro) cadres and they have laid down two 9 mm pistol with 15 live rounds and three hand grenades. Another two are KYKL cadres and they have laid down one AK 56 rifle with two magazines and one hand grenade.

Further, one PREPAK cadre, one PLA cadre and one UNLF cadre have also joined the ceremony by handing over one hand grenade each.

One KCP (Lamyanba Kuman) cadre gave in one AK 47 rifle with 221 live rounds.                

Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, Chief Secretary PC Lawnkunga, DGP MK Das, Deputy Speaker MK Preshow, and other high ranking government officials attended the ceremony.

Speaking at the function, Chief Minister O Ibobi welcomed cadres who took part in the `home coming ceremony` and said that the state government is concerned about the security of UG cadres who have joined the mainstream.

He said the state government is discussing with the Centre for the improvement of the rehabilitation centres in the state where the cadres will be staying.       

He also urged the cadres who have stepped forth to join the mainstream to make an appeal to the remaining other cadres to join them.

The Chief Minster has also invited suggestions from the cadres in order to bring the other remaining cadres to the mainstream and to bring a solution through dialogue.   

Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, speaking on the occasion said peace and freedom from crime and terrorism are the catalysts for progress and development.

He said many unwanted things were reportedly committed by cadres of the SoO signed outfits which is very deplorable. He said he hoped that the cadres who have stepped forward would not do such kind of activities in the future.

The Police have identified the surrendered UG cadres as Huirongbam Iboyaima Singh alias Boby Mangang, 40, son of (L) H Gouro Singh of Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai, a S/S captain army No. 973813 (senior publicity officer cum project officer) of PREPAK (PRO);

Thokchom Abung Meitei alias Apaiba, 33, son of Th (O) Inakhunbi Devi of Khangabok Part – III, Makha Leikai, S/S segt army no 27691 of 27th batch of PREPAK (PRO);

Chungkham Oken alias Naocha alias Ipu Singh, 44, son of Ch Kulachand Singh of Kwakeithel Thognoujam Leikai, S/S lieutenant 2012601 (asstt project officer) of PREPAK (PRO);

Ningthoujam Amu Singh alias Sanayai alias Ratan, 27, son of (L) N Inaocha Singh of Sagolband Lanjing Achouba Makha Leikai, S/S  lance corporal army number 40291 of 40th batch of PREPAK (PRO);

Wahengbam Nanao Singh (name changed), 16 of Kumbi Laibung Makhong, S/S PT army number 4190 of 41 batch of PREPAK (PRO);

Koijam Devan Singh alias Khamba alias Kappa Singh, 41, son of (L) K Devo Singh of Khongman Mangjil Mamang Kongba Road, S/S captain of PREPAK (PRO);

Moirangthem Chinglen alias Hemanta Meitei, 22, son of M Ranjit Singh of Khongjom Khebachi, S/S sgt army number 130 of 22nd Batch of KYKL;  

Hodam Tansen alias Nanao Singh, 25, son of H Kesho Singh of Wangjing  SK Leikai, S/S lance corporal army number 626 of 26th Batch of KYKL;

Konjenbam Ibochoubi Singh alias Rony Singh, 40, son of K Tombi Singh of Lamboi Khongnang, S/S major 940401 (asst secretary external affairs) of PREPAK;

Laishram Sanjoy Singh, 18, son of L Inao Singh of Churachanpur Tuibong Meitei Leikai, S/S private of PLA;

Khangembam Joychandra Singh alias Mangalpiba, 21, son of Kh Rajen Singh of Samaram Mayai Leikai, S/S lance corporal army number 2145 of 33 batch of UNLF; and Moirangthem Nanao Singh, 25, son of M Achou Singh of Langathel Hingonnung Mamang Leikai, S/S private of KCP (Lamyanba Khuman).
