Join hands for development and look up for inspiration to Lamyanba says LINTOC convener during Irabot`s birth anniversary observation

IMPHAL, September 30: The 117th birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot was today observed widely by various organizations, clubs and schools.

The various functions held today observed that Lamyanba Hijam Irabot had fought against the hegemony of the then government and struggled for the upliftment of the state and fought against several social evils prevailing in the society of his time.  

The Lamyanba Irabot Ningsing Thouram Observation Committee (LINTOC), a body collectively formed by All Manipur Progress Farmers Association (AMPFA); Irawat Foundation Manipur (IFM); Joint Student’s Coordinating Committee (JSCC) and Lou Singu Apunba Lup (LOUSAL) also jointly observed the 117th birth anniversary today at the DM College Multipurpose Hall.

LINTOC convener Thounaojam Iboyaima said Irawat was a true nationalist and worked for the people of the state.

September is an important month for the state as it was during this month that Lamyanba Irabot was born and died, he said.

He said that the people of the state should join hands and work together towards the development of the society and should look at Irabot for inspiration.

Meanwhile, the All Manipur Sunday market Vendors and Labourers Union in a press statement has wished the people of the state on the 117th birth anniversary of Hijam Irabot and appealed to join together cutting across communities to bring peace, harmony for a prosperous and developed state.

Meanwhile, speaking at the Irawat Celebration Committee, ICC organized function at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, MSC/CPI state secretary Dr M Nara said Hijam Irawat was not only for the communist party but was and is for everyone.

He said Hijam Irawat’s birth anniversary is celebrated not only in Manipur but in other states and countries like in Tripura, Assam, Myanmar, etc.

Elaborating on the present situation in the state, he said the people are suffering today amidst much conflicts occurring on a daily basis.

The people need equality of social justice, he said and added that people of both the hills and the valley need to come together and not demand for separation on lines of being a Hindu, Kuki, Naga or Muslim.

The people need to come together and develop a stable and peaceful state, he said.

Veteran CPI leader M Ibohal Singh; chairman, (ICC) Manipur Ningthoujam Mangi; former Sr Newscaster, AIR Imphal A Kamson and president , Kuki Inpi, Manipur Thangkhoisei Haokip also attended the function.

Major highlights of the function were the handing over of the Hijam Irawat Award to Manipur State Minorities Commission, Chairperson, Halim Choudhury; Thiyam Meghachandra Journalist Award to Editor Naharolgee Thoudang Khoiram Loyalakpa, Hijam Achou Shinmee Award to renowned mason Yengkhom Hemei.

A march past competition with 40 contingents from different schools and organizations was also witnessed today as part of the observation.

In yet another observation of the day, the Irawat Research and the Commemoration Committee, The Hijam Irabot Memorial Charitable Trust, The  All Manipur Rikshaw Drivers’ and Pullers’ Welfare Association, The All Manipur  Recognized Private Schools’ Welfare Association, All Manipur Intellectual Forum, All Manipur Democratic Woman’s Front, All Manipur Youth’s League, All Manipur Peasant’s Union, Student League Manipur, People Price Monitoring Committee and Unified People Struggle Committee jointly organized a march past competition at THAU ground.

The march past competition with 23 contingents started from DM campus and concluded at the THAU ground.  

Irabot Research and Commemoration Committee (IRCC), president S Shyamsunder; All Manipur Intellectual Forum president Ch Gopalmacha; Central Agriculture University (CAU) Dean N Iboton; All Manipur  Rickshaw Drivers and Pullers Welfare Association (AMRDPWA) president, Th Basanta ; All Manipur Recognized Private Schools Welfare Association, president Ph Landhoni; Hijam Irabot Memorial charitable trust president H Dilip; Agriculture Labour Union, Manipur Rev Rehang Chothe; People Price Monitoring Committee L Premila Leima; Manipur Youth’s League K Ibomcha also attended the function.

The Jananeta Irawat Birth Celebration Committee has today organized the 117th birth anniversary of Jananeta Hijam Irawat at Manipur Dramatic Union at 11:00 am.

CPI (M) state secretary Sarat Salam, celebration committee Chairman Meitram Shamu, CPI state secretary Dr M Nara, MPP president Nk Sovakiran Singh, JD (U) N Tombi Singh and JD (S) president Manihar Goshwami attended the function.

A letter from the Left Front convenor Member of Parliament, Khogen Das was read out during the function.

The MP is presently undergoing medical treatment at the Classic Hotel, Imphal under the supervision of Chief Medical Officer, Imphal West.

It is notable that MP Khogen Das is a member of the MP team of the Committee on Estimate, Lok Sabha that had landed at Imphal on Sunday, led by the committee’s chairman Francisco Sardina.

During the function, eight Irawat associates namely L Tiken of Khundrakpam, N Nirpen of Moirangkhom, Meitram Shamu of Awang Jiri, L Kunjo of Khudrakpam, S Bihari of Changangei, Ima Maloti of Keibi, N Rashi Meitei of Keibi and N Tombi of Uyumpok were honoured by giving presentations.

Hiyam Irabot’s birth anniversary was also observed at the Human Resource Development Academy, Ghari and the principal of the Academy L Kamakhyakumar Singh presided over the function, said a press release of the HRD Academy.

During the function, the teachers and students paid floral tribute to a portrait of Jananeta Hijam Irabot after which his famous song ‘thangol adu maya thangu thouna he lou u ba’ was presented by Ivy Lata Kshetrimayum.

Likewise, Elite Foundation Manipur, Keishamthong observed the birth anniversary at its office.

The secretary of the Foundation, AK Sushilkumar Singh presented a paper on ‘Lamyanba Hijam Irabot amadi Mahakki Punshi Marel’.
