IMPHAL, September 29: The association of parents and guardians of students of Shishu Nishta Niketan who are travelling by non-approved transporters today called a press conference at the Manipur Press Club announcing the association’s resolution on the issues arising out of a notification of the school regarding school transport.
The school notification had informed that the school management has resolved not to grant re-admission to students who are not availing of the registered School Transport vehicles for the academic session, 2014-15.
Speaking to media persons, spokesperson Pushpa Gurumayum said the parents’ body has resolved not to abide by the said official notification.She said the association has also resolved that none of the parents will pay the fine imposed by the school and further demanded that the school authorities should withdraw the notification at the earliest.
Unless the school authority withdraws the said notification, the parents’ body will launch several forms of agitations, she said.
She further alleged that the school authorities have been mentally harassing the students who are travelling by non-approved transporters.
The students as such are reluctant to go to school, she continued.
Students travelling in non-approved transporters and those travelling in approved transporters are made to stand in separate lines, she complained.
The school authority is meting out discriminatory action against the students travelling in the vehicles of non-approved transporters, she continued before appealing to the concerned authorities to look into the issue.
