Village chairman shot

IMPHAL, September 1: The village chairman of Chingmai Kabui village was shot on his feet and assaulted allegedly by Zeliangrong United Front cadres at Khoupum area yesterday night around 7:30 at Namkaolong under Khoupum Police station, Nungba sub-division in Tamenglong district.

The injured village chairman identified as Nailin Kamei (47), son of Gaidinglung of Chingmai Village has been admitted at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) and undergoing treatment for the bullet injury on his left feet.

He also suffered bruises on his back and around his left eye.

The family further charged that three armed cadres of the ZUF came to the house of the Chief where he was staying and took him away along with them.

And after taking Nailin to the rear side of the Namkoulong Primary school, he was beaten up by around 30 cadres of ZUF, the family alleged.
