`Locals integral to smooth running of schools`

IMPHAL, October 9: The newly constructed school building of Aimol Chingnunghut Government High School at Chingnunghut Village in Chandel district which was constructed under the RMSA 2011-12 at the estimated cost of Rs 47 lakhs was inaugurated today.

The inaugural function of the school building was attended by D Korungthang, MLA Tengnoupal as chief guest, Lhukhosei Zou, Chairman ADC Chandel as guest of honour and Cho Chanthoi Aimol, Member of 7 Aimol Tampak District Council Constituency as president.

Speaking at the function, D Korungthang questioned why not the government schools teachers who are more qualified and well paid than those in private schools cannot produce good students while teachers working in private schools could produce the same.

He further said it is the dedication and hard work of the private schools teachers that they are able to produce good students.

He said likewise the government schools teachers should work with dedication and commitment to bring quality education and produce good students.

Lhukhosei Zou stated that for smooth functioning of government schools, the role and responsibility of village chief and school management committee as well as the villagers are not less that of teachers adding that it is not the duty of the teachers alone to run the school but is also the responsibility of the local people to keep the schools functioning smoothly.

Co-operation is much needed for smooth functioning of the schools so that we can get the benefits of Free and Compulsory Education under the Right to Education Act, he noted.

Today’s function was also attended by S Tongpao Mate, Executive Member ADC Chandel; staffs of ZEO Chandel; village chiefs, church leaders and other civil organization leaders.
