Sachidananda`s own goal helps NISA outmatch SSU 2-0

    IMPHAL, October 17: An own goal from Y Sachidananda of Southern Sporting Union helped third place North Imphal Sporting Association defeat the table topper by 2-0 in the ongoing Manipur State League.

    Playing the 31st match of this year’s edition of the league, yesterday, at Mapal Kangjeibung, Y Sachidananda’s own goal in the 15th minute helped NISA gain a 1-0 lead against SSU in the first half of the match.

    Leading 1-0 into the second half, the NISA players came into the field with renewed zeal, with P Christopher Kamei adding to the woes of the table topper by scoring the second goal for NISA in the 66th minute.

    Meanwhile, 5th place Zomi Football Club, CCpur was held in a 1-1 draw by Kuki Sporting Club, Lambulane in today’s first match of the league.

    Lengingshang Haokip scored the first goal of the match in the 27th minute for the CCpur team which was equalized in the 76th minute by Ngulkhosiam for the Lambulane team.

    The 34th match of the league played today also ended in a tame 1-1 draw, with M Somochandra scoring for Manipur Police Sports Club in the 30th minute and N Shankar scoring for Apunpa Imagi Mangal, Khabam Lamkhai in the 60th minute.

    In another match of the league played yesterday, NEROCA defeated TRUGPU by 3-1.

    NEROCA players controlled the match from the word go, with Th Ratan Meitei scoring the first goal in just the 5th minute of starting play.

    Just six minutes after the first goal, Kh Satish scored another for NEROCA in the 11th minute.

    The first half ended with NEROCA leading with a 2-0 lead.

    N Sushil added another for NEROCA in the 58th minute.

    TRUGPU’s solitary goal was scored in extra time in the 90+1 minute by Anthony Kabui.
