Thoubal district launches illness assistance fund scheme

IMPHAL, October 31: Thoubal district has become the first district in the state of Manipur to launch ‘Manipur State Illness Assistance Fund Scheme’.

Launching the Scheme, Deputy Commissioner of the district T Ranjit Singh who is chairman of the District Level Screen Committee, has today distributed the amount in cheque to the respective beneficiaries. The distribution of the cheque was organized in the conference hall of the DC office.

During the function, the deputy commissioner mentioned that the Manipur State Illness Assistance Fund Scheme is meant for giving assistance to the families of Below Poverty Line in the time of their illness, adding that the amount incurred in the hospitalization for major treatment or major operation will be reimbursed to the particular family.

The government of Manipur has notified to constitute a district level screening committee for every districts of Manipur, T Ranjit Singh told and further continued to add that the deputy commissioner of the district is the chairman of the Committee while the CMO of the concern district acts as member secretary and CEO/ADC or Zilla Parishad member and the medical superintendent of the district are members respectively.

He further informed that a patient of BPL family gets reimbursement upto Rs 1.50 lakhs. And if the amount upto Rs Rs 50,000 could be approved by the concerned district administration while amount exceeding this limit will be processed according to the rules of MSIAF and the proposal will be submitted to State Level Committee.
