Grenade attack injures 15 year old helper

IMPHAL, Nov 16: In a shocking incident, a minor working as a helper at the residence of a business man was injured in a grenade attack, presumably related to a monetary demand at the residence of a businessman.

Police said, an unidentified person lobbed a grenade at the Lilong Haoreibi Turel Ahanbi residence of businessman, Md Abdul Salam, 37, son of (L) Khomei around 10:15 am, leaving the 15 year old injured in the explosion.

The area falls under the Lilong Police station.

Police identified Md Abdul Salam as a businessman dealing in Moreh items.

The boy, identified as Ayasuddin of Keirao and a domestic worker at Abdul’s residence since some months back, was injured on his back, police said before adding that he was rushed to the Lilong Community Health Centre and later referred to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences.

The boy is presently undergoing treatment at RIMS.

Meanwhile, another reliable source said that the bomb might have been carried out in connection with some monetary demand from an underground.

Abdul Salam had received a monetary demand of Rs 5 lakhs from an underground outfit some days back, the source informed.
